Academic Courses for 14 - 15 Year olds
Through this course we will explore a number of adaptations of a variety of organisms, each related to one of the Life Processes. We will review the fundamental processes which all living organisms need to do, to be classified as living and look at the three key types of adaptation: structural, behavioural and physiological and use examples to illustrate these. The course also looks at life processes and human influences.
English: Beginning the Bard - An Introduction to Shakespeare
In this course, students will be introduced to arguably the
most famous and important British writer, someone taught and loved across the
world: William Shakespeare. Rather than studying a single play in depth, this
course is synoptic in nature: it provides a wide-angle view of Shakespeare’s
life and work. Students will emerge with far greater knowledge and
understanding of Shakespeare, much better placed to analyse and discuss any
future play they encounter.
Social Science: Decoding Development
This is a topic that is at the forefront of economic debate and discussion. We will look at how we achieve development and what hinders it, we will also look at how technological changes will impact development . These are topics debated by key economic thinkers such as Krugman, Ha Joon Chang and Collier and it is these questions that we will focus on over our 10-week module.
Academic Courses for 11 - 13 Year olds
STEM: Creating Life on Another Planet
A masterclass in employing scientific skills and knowledge to
create life on another planet.
A course designed to engage students with the world around us and examine the reasons
why planet Earth is perfect to harbour life and why life is so well adapted to Earth. With these
understandings, it is then possible to analyse bigger questions such as whether it will ever be
possible for humans to live elsewhere in the Solar system and beyond!
English: Building Blocks of Literature
This course embarks on a journey through the many techniques authors employ to infuse
meaning into their literary works. By scrutinizing chosen pieces of poetry and prose, students
will gain insights into literary forms, terminology, and structural devices. The course further
hones the art of deducing implicit meanings and utilizes the texts to spark discussion on broad
interest subjects like human society and technological progression
Social Science: Transforming Our World
A course aimed at engaging with the decision or policy makers of the future to develop social,
environmental and economic solutions to the current problems of the world. During this course the aims are to understand the importance of the study of Social Sciences, giving students the time to
engage and discover a cohesive approach in solving the problems facing the world. The
course will provide space to develop and explore while encouraging the skill set of
evaluation.
