STEM: How Science Works

Have you ever wondered how lightning is created? How we go from single-celled organisms into the most intelligent species on the planet? Or even, how we generate electricity to power our homes? During this course, you will learn the answers to these questions and a whole lot more. We will explore all corners of STEM though the study of nine objects or phenomena from both the natural and human-made world. Each lesson can broadly be placed into one of three categories.

English: Finding a Voice

One of the most important questions that an author must answer before writing any narrative is: who is going to tell the story and from what perspective? In this course, we will consider the different factors that affect how a writer answers this question by exploring a range of narrative perspectives through the study of extracts from literary fiction – both classic and contemporary. As well as attaining a deeper understanding of narrative crafting, the students will learn some key terminology, practice the skills of textual analysis, and discuss their personal opinions.

Social Science: Creative Disruption

This is the age where children’s entertainment has been increasingly dominated by smart technology and they are the first to incorporate artificial intelligence into everyday life. Change is all around and we must prepare our children for a future unknown to us, where the best education is accessible, previous life-threatening diseases become manageable conditions, and consumers’ every desire is at the touch of their fingertips.
